Automate the LTCH CARE Data Set with HCS INTERACTANT®
AVOID THE 2% PAYMENT REDUCTION FOR NON-COMPLIANCE LTCH Quality Reporting Program
Mandated by the Affordable Care Act, LTCH, Inpatient Rehab Facilities (IRFs) and Hospice providers are required to submit data on three quality measures starting October 1, 2012. Non-compliance will result in a 2% reduction in annual payment update beginning fiscal year 2014.
For LTCHs, the three quality measures are:
- Catheter associated urinary tract infections (NQF#0138)
- Central-line associated bloodstream infections (NQF#0139)
- Percentage of patients with pressure ulcers that are new or have worsened (NQF#0678)
New CMS Item Set – LTCH CARE Data Set
In order to meet the third quality measure, LTCH providers must complete the LTCH (Continuity Assessment Record and Evaluation) CARE Data set. This is the first time the LTCH community will complete an item set much like the MDS in long-term care, Oasis C in home health, and IRF-PAI for inpatient rehabilitation facilities.
Experience with CMS Item Sets for Post-Acute Providers
With the LTCH CARE Data set tied directly to a 2% annual payment reduction if not compliant, it is crucial to have a software partner who can automate the data collection process and provide tools to support responses for audit purposes.
In our more than 40 years of experience, HCS has spent the last 15 automating CMS item sets for our post-acute care clients. Our experience with CMS and various data set specifications provides us with the confidence and ability to react quickly to last minute changes, and the foresight to program an intuitive application to ease staff burden and ensure compliance.
