Reducing Medical Errors with INTERACTANT
Farmingdale, NJ, (December 3, 1999) - Health Care Software,
Inc. (HCS) shares the growing national concern, recently voiced
by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the National Academies,
over the leading cause of death and injury - medical errors.
HCS' INTERACTANT Healthcare Information System assists users
in many ways to eliminate medical errors.
For example, using INTERACTANT's Clinical Management Module
will assist caregivers in eliminating mistakes ranging from
illegible writing to treatments based on incomplete information.
A pharmacy module also checks dosage levels and red flags drug
interactions, drug allergies, duplicate drug orders, IV conflicts,
and lab tests to drug alerts. These modules are part of the
INTERACTANT Clinical Management System and feature multiple
levels of authorization checking.
A clinical documentation module carefully tracks patient progress
that becomes part of the electronic medical record. Various
alerts include vital sign tracking, medication administration
tracking, multidisciplinary notes, I/O module, and user defined
clinical assessments. The INTERACTANT Nursing Care Plan Module
uses industry standard NANDA terms that can be user modified
for optimum patient individualization.
